Who Are The Most Lyrically Talented Rappers?

Who Are The Most Lyrically Talented Rappers?

This is definitely a reoccurring argument that is often struck between passionate fans of artists and what each individual celebrity brings to the rap world, but also how they affected it. Originating in the early 1970's rap has become more than just music, but a cultural movement which then affected the entire country, if not the world. Often times rap music is portrayed to be specifically about drugs and violence, but what the community/media does not realize is that if all of these artists did not come out and say what was actually happening at the time all of our media today would be censored. Tv shows such as 'Family Guy' and 'South Park' would not exists today. Lets take a look at artists' who have then used their words to start one of the biggest movements of the century.

Eminem

It's pretty obvious that Eminem (Marshall Mathers) would be one of the few to be mentioned. From his unexplainable diction in each verse, to the speed of which he records at definitely puts him as a top contender. Even though he is frowned upon because of his vulgar and explicit language in his songs, everyone who knows Eminem as an artist knows the talent he was given. Being raised in the rough streets of Atlanta, Eminem made his mark through rap battles with his witty MC rap battle skills. He has not only been on top in the rap world for past decade, but is also one of the most respected rappers in the game.

Tupac Shakur

Tupac was one of the first to actually initiate the start of the "rap game" and influence every rapper from then on out. If you take a look at Billboards top ranked rappers of all time you will see that each and every individual on that list has something that he/she learned or adopted from Tupac. Not only did he start trends and revolutionize the way words could be put together, but he was also one to talk about current events and real world issues. A social activist, a movement maker, and a role model made Tupac Shakur leave behind the most impacted legacy in the rap game. Who knows how much more of an impact he would have made on this earth if he was still around today!?

Biggie Smalls (Christopher Wallace/Notorious B.I.G)

Biggie Smalls was well known for his impeccable flow and lethal impact with his lyrics, he is yet another star who has left behind quite a legacy. Christopher Wallace was also on the uprise during the same era as Tupac Shakur which made them a dominate duo at first, but then resulted into a violent feud between the two rap stars. Even though the two celebrities had their differences some say it made their songs have that much more meaning which then proceeded to raise the bar for following artists. Anytime a "Biggie" song comes on at an event or nightclub the entire atmosphere changes.

Jay Z (Shawn Carter)

Born in 1969, Jay Z has always had a musical connection with his fans evoking all sorts of emotions. His one of a kind swagger and musical talents have proceeded to keep him alive and relevant through three decades of music. His wide range of musical talents has led Jay Z to to a total of 19 Grammy awards and the upbringing of two of the hottest rappers alive to date (Kanye West, Big Sean). Not only being musically talented, Shawn Carter is also a very goal oriented businessman making his net worth over $550 million and counting. With Jay Zs laundry list of accomplishments it is hard not to put him in the same category as one of the greatest.
